This is just weird!

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday.

This time we picked out her stuff and I have to say, it's pretty weird! Not real sure what else to say about it. No harm was done to the Maria Osmond doll while making this piece:)

Are you living your creative dream?

I am wanting to continually feature & interview some artists on my Living The Creative Dream Blog

Are you living your creative dream? I am!!

I am looking particularly for photographers, painters (fine artists), scrapbookers, crafters, knitters, designers, potters, sculptors, chef's and those with unique creative talents.

In order to narrow the responses I get, I have come up with some requirements for being featured:

Being an artist must be your full-time job (working for your own business). You must have a significant income from your business (by significant, I mean you are supporting yourself and/or your family with your art).

So if you have an interesting story about how your dream job has become your day job, please email me!

*Feel free to pass this post on to others!

I love Crayola

There is no better brand of crayons than Crayola - and believe me, in my almost 30 years of life, I've tested a ton :) Found this at Cracker Barrel last night for only $2.50. I was very excited! I might put it in a shadow box and hang it in my studio. Almost makes me want to get these too.

Big Head Monkey

I did my part from yesterday's Woogie Wednesday today. I took her big head and made it into a big headed monkey. I've been doing some different illustration work with found objects similar to this. So that's it. We're off to the circus where I don't know if there will be monkeys or not. If it was up to me, I'd say bring them on!

Big Head - in progress

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday. It's about 9:45 P.M. now and I've been going full force since 4am, but wanted to show a "ww" in progress.

I had several deadlines today and I knew I wouldn't have time to do a "ww" project so while I worked I had the Woog work on her part of the project. She made several drawings of heads and then started drawing apples (with arms and legs) like crazy. Not sure what they deal was there but she was excited about them so I was too. So, this is the "Big Head" I chose to use and I will add my part tomorrow:

to be continued...

Fee-Fee McGee

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday. This is where we make one of my found object (Junk A Doodles) pieces.

Here's what we started off with:

I then asked her, what should we make out of all this?
"Diamonds" she said with a smirk on her face. She was wearing a "diamond" ring and she wanted something to match.

I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, so it took me a while to figure it out and in the meantime she lost interest but did check on me from time to time and hand me pieces of junk to use.

The best thing I could come up with was a cat with diamond stripes and diamonds on the collar. I also did a few stitch lines and am calling it Illustration Friday this week too.

Here's how it turned out:

I'm still working on the Woogie Wednesday site, but prints should be up for sale over the weekend if not before.

And, now some Link Back Love for today:

found whimsy

I've been under the weather since late yesterday morning (fever and all) and trying to get work done was pretty painful, but I met my deadlines and hope to be back up and running better tomorrow. One of my goals for the New Year has been to try and to do something creative everyday. And of course, I've got a blog for that. The pieces above are from the last 2 days. This "theme" has been in my sketchbook for well over a year so I'm glad I forced myself to take some time to create, even when I felt like poo. These print (and more will come) are available for purchase here.

Chicky Duck

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday. This is where we make one of my found object (Junk A Doodles) pieces.

Here's what we started off with:

I then asked her, what should we make out of all this?
"How 'bout a DUCK!"

OK. I guess we both have birds on the mind today.

She starts picking out which parts will be what and paints the head, beak and paper punches random bits, while I paint the background. She them turns her attention to doing one all by herself and confiscates 2 of the pieces. She made a mouse and thought it was hilarious that I took a picture of it:

And here's how it turned out:

And then here's out finished product. more of a chick than a duck. It would make a cute Valentine's Day card I think.

I'm launching a Woogie Wednesday site next week and we'll be selling prints of our pieces, so stay tuned!

2008 Goals

I took advantage of the Woog going back to Mother's Day Out today and spent my time writing out my goals for the year and started on my goals book. I was all excited about today so I picked what I thought would be the perfect, quite place to think, but it ended up to be the place where homeschoolers are in study groups and retires are eating their lunches. I'm going to try and set aside planning time like this every month so I guess I need to find another "perfect" place! I was productive and filled up an entire 9x12 sketchbook page about what I want to do this year and how I'm going to do it. Everything is attainable, I just have a lot of work to do!

100% Junk

I know I've posted this before, but it really is one of my favorite pieces and thought it would be appropriate for this week's Illustration Friday's 100%.

This piece is made out of 100% junk - that's just what I do! I ended up using it for a promo card too.

Rejection from Disney

I found this on flickr yesterday and thought it was pretty cool. Kind of crazy but pretty cool. You can read it better here. The comments on it are pretty funny, too.

If you have a chance, purchase Walt Disney's biography. I loved it! I bought it as an audio book but eventually want to get the printed version. I'm sure there are some great pictures in there!

Gratitude

I've decided this year that I'm going to be more grateful and appreciate others. I started to really focus on this last year but want to be even more aware of it this year. One thing I thought off in the fall was a way to give back to those who have linked to me. I started off with this post and never got around to getting the domain and making a site for it until the end of the year. Nothing like last minute write-offs to get you moving on something! Anyway, check out the site and see if you want to join the campaign. Here's some of my link back love for today:

Creative Mom Podcast | Artsy Teapot | Red Dog and Jude | Tam Ainslie | Mamas Doodles | Hanna's Life is Cool | Demarco Designs

Thanks so much to everyone linking to me. It's a great encouragement to know that what I do is appreciated so much that you want to share it with others :)

more type lovin'

I know I've said it before, but I love type! One of my goals this year is to go on specific "type photo safaris." This print can be purchased in my etsy shop in b&w and color.

Oh, and I have some new ideas/endeavors that will be coming this year so stay tuned for those...
