"The Entrance"

Well, it really feels real now! I wish I had taken a before picture but under the top cabinet was another cabinet that I took out, tiled the "backsplash" area (to match the rest of the kitchen I did a few weeks ago), patched up the wood floor where the cabinet was, cut a hole in the wall and put my door up. Now I just have to put in a little bit of base board and shoe mold and it will be all done. Now I have a little mud roomish area (I love mud rooms) and an entrance to my studio! Today the shingles will finally go on!

blue eyed girl
I did a career day thing at an elementary school last week (more on that later) and I decided that it was ok for the Woog to grow up. Kid's are still just as cute as they get older. These two pictures just happened to pop up together on my screen saver today and much hasn't changed in 3 and a half years.

One of my favorite shirts she has says "everyone loves a blue eyed girl." So true!

Real Monsters & Little Monsters

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday! I've got a lot of work due tomorrow that I need to try and finish up today so Woogie Wednesday will continue into a Woogie Weekend. Today she'll be helping me start my entry for Monster Mash and help me with a junk a doodles project due tomorrow.

Here's the monster I've had sketched out for a few weeks:

And here's my junk a doodle work that's due tomorrow:

Let the junkin' begin!

The Prize
Well, I've decided which of my Junk A Doodles pieces I'm giving away for my Pumpkin Junkin' contest. I've thought long and hard and went back and forth if I wanted to part with it or not, but I've finally decided that I'll give this piece away (it's one of my favorites!):

my doors are in!

I have a roof and my french doors are in!! I've given myself a deadline of Thanksgiving to have the entire thing done, inside and out. It's supposed to rain everyday this week so I don't know if shingles will go on or not. Once it gets all dried-in I can go ahead and get my electrical and insulation in and then I can start doing the drywall.

More Studio Progress
I'm a little behind on posting studio progress. This is how it looked last week. It's over 300 square feet, but it's so much bigger than I had imagined. We might have to take another day trip to IKEA to fill it up.

Yesterday the rafters went up. It's been rainy this week and my contractor's due to have a baby tomorrow so they'll be some delays, but we're so close too getting in all dried in. Can't wait!!

Showing the Love

**I know it's Woogie Wednesday but the Woog spent the day with my mom so she wasn't available for an art project. My mom did teach her to read while she was there, so she did do liberal arts!**

For the past 2 weeks it seems like I've only been on my computer to check mail or do some work. I haven't had many assignments due this month so I've taken advantage of it and did some things around the house. I tiled our kitchen back splash (I will never do that again!) ripped out a cabinet, painted and decorated all fall like.

I thought I'd give some "link-back-love" to some random sites that showed up in my stats. Thanks for linking guys!

BOO!

The Illustration For Kids group is doing another postcard mailer and this is my piece. Fall is my favorite time of year and I love that I can break out the pumpkins and fall scented candles on October 1st. Since the Woog is getting older I'll start decorating the house more for these fun holidays. Now, if the weather was only more fall like...

Generations

It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday! We did something a bit different this week. While visiting my grandmother and mom today, I took a 4 generations picture. Although she seems so big in so many ways, her little dimpled hands seem so small.

Studio Progress

Well, some wood is finally up along the wall. Hopefully we'll have a floor by the end of the week. We had a setback last week when we were told we had to dig out our hill behind the studio so we had to get that done before we moved forward with anything else. Hopefully now we can finally start building up!

Robert's Snow
I've gotten some unexpected recognition in doing a Robert's Snow snowflake this year. While I was on vacation I got a couple of emails congratulating me on my career after seeing me in the state newspaper and that next week my mom called me an told me there was a big article in the city paper. I would have never known about the articles since the only news I read is from TMZ (sad, I know). Nice little surprises!

I also received the postcard from Robert's Snow yesterday and I found my snowflake on there. Now I'm just waiting to see what date mine will be auctioned off. I think I might bid on a couple myself. It's such a great cause and I'm proud to be a part of the 2007 illustrators.
